Welcome/Renewal Benefit

  • 500 Cash Points (applicable only on payment of membership fee)

Reward Points

  • 10X CashPoints (1%) on BigBasket , BookMyShow, OYO, Uber & Swiggy (Max RP 2500)
  • 5X CashPoints on EMI spends at merchant locations (Max RP :2500)
  • 1 CashPoints per ₹150 spent on other spends (Excluding fuel, wallets loads/prepaid card loads & voucher purchases)
  • 1 RP is worth 15 Paise. Valid for 2 years.
  • When redeemed against statement or redeemed from smart buy portal for 50% order value for travel, hotel bookings & 70% of order value for rewards catalogue. Balance amount has to be purchased with credit card.  Maximum of 50000 RP can be utilized per month.
  • Up to 15% discount on partner restaurants in select cities via Dineout

Note:

  • With effect from 1st January 2023, Rent payments and Govt Related transactions will NOT earn Reward Points
  • With effect from 1st January 2023, Reward points earned on Grocery transactions will be capped per month to 1,000 reward points.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver

1% Fuel Surcharge waiver on fuel transactions (Minimum transaction of ₹400, Maximum transaction of ₹5,000 & Maximum waiver of ₹250 per statement cycle)

Renewal Offer

  • Get renewal membership fee waived off by spending ₹50,000 and above in an annual year.

Fees

  • Joining / Renewal fees : 500+GST; But card can be brought as Lifetime credit card most of the times depending on the campaign offers or negotiate with HDFC Cards.
 

What doesn't Works

  • Too many terms and condition with lot of limitations. Its so confusing. Simple cashback cards like  Axis Ace, ICICI Amazon Pay, SBI Cashback cards are much better depending on the usage.
  • Though the new statement credit which is more informative the rewards availed are not displayed in transparent manner. 
  • No RP for fuel, wallets loads/prepaid card loads, voucher purchases, govt spends.
  • Most benefits are limited to few merchants

Verdict

HDFC Freedom Card doesn't offer much value to one. There are much better cards in the market.
